INTRODUCTION
The Project
An opera set between artistic experience and urban dynamics
The project aims at representing opera within a creative process at the crossroads between contemporary art and modern technologies both visual and auditive. Whether in open or closed spaces, in proper theatres or public squares, the main decor consists in an installation/sculpture devised by Arne Quinze for this experimental production. Accommodating the public in the heart of the scenic area, getting them to be confronted with the feeling of the immensity of the decor and simultaneously giving them a novel intimacy with Janacek’s music, such is the purpose of this ‘enfolding’ device. By reducing the distance between the production and the spectators new codes are developed to allow for a new approach to classical music, less solemn, more poignant and sensitive.
Beside the performances proper, Arne Quinze’s sculpture lives on in its location, exhibited as an urban art masterwork.
